The first one is about Representative Paul Ryan’s “Roadmap for America.” I should start off by saying that I’m really sorry my state has inflicted him on the rest of the country. No really, you have my sincerest of apologies. Now…from the TPMEditors Blog:
For weeks, DC has been fawning over Rep. Paul Ryan’s ‘courageous’ Social Security and Medicare-slashing budget as a brave attempt to deal with mounting federal deficits. But it turns out the CBO didn’t really score his budget as he suggested. He asked him to score it on the basis of assuming his numbers were right.
Then there was this tidbit on Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family from the TPMMuckraker. In it they take a look at claims made regarding his departure from FotF’s radio show and the creation of his own independent radio show. There’s a bit of speculation going on as to whether or not he was forced out in order to give FotF a softer image. To that I say – “Ya think?” Even FotF can get a copy of David Kinnaman’s “unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks about Christianity… and Why It Matters.” Ignoring their findings would require some serious head-in-the-sand beliefs. For an organization that relies upon donations in order to survive, I doubt that they could continue to pay the bills for their huge Colorado Springs campus by relying upon the base of folks they’ve relied upon in the past.
Still, as one of those in the younger generation that wouldn’t ever dream of supporting FotF – it’s going to take more fundamental changes aside from this and bringing on Esther Fleece.
